Happy Thanksgiving! We are so thankful that Oliver is officially 6 months in remission. Oliver was given a 15% chance of survival when he was first diagnosed so to have come this far within one year of diagnosis is truly a miracle. We have never shared these numbers before because they were discouraging and scary. We don’t know what the future holds (as none of us ever do), but we are trying our best to live in the present and be grateful for each day. His chances of relapse continue to be high, but making it to the 6-month mark is a great first step. As you pray for Oliver to stay in remission, will you add our friend Emma to your prayers? She is a little girl about Oliver’s age who has the exact same type of cancer as Oliver. She is currently in remission and just recently passed her 100 day mark. Will you pray she stays in remission too?
I recently had the opportunity to organize the playroom on the oncology floor where Oliver was hospitalized. The space was such an amazing gift to us with a toddler who spent months in the hospital. He was able to move around and played for hours, especially during his transplant when he was in isolation and was not allowed to walk the halls. I am hoping to have the hospital playroom fully stocked and organized for Christmas, so I have added some things they need to our Amazon wish list. They will be directly shipped to the hospital. Thank you in advance for your contributions to the oncology playroom! As always, we appreciate your prayers and support of our family.
