Yesterday was the first clinic visit without a central line. It meant going to the lab at UNC to get his blood drawn, which was a slow and painful process. The good news: he’s looking so good and his numbers have been so stable that we can start spreading out his visits to every two weeks now. The bad news: the blood for his blood count test clotted so I need to take him to a UNC lab today to get another blood draw 😔
Oliver has been taking his magnesium well and the transition to oral meds has been really smooth. Only a few more weeks of his immunosuppressant medication!
It’s been so nice to have his central line out. It really makes our lives so much better— he can take baths, play in the pool, and we are hopeful we can take him to the beach soon. We need to continue to be really careful about sun exposure and sunburns, but other than that it takes a big weight off of us to have the line out and significantly decreases his infection risk.
