We are headed to UNC this morning because Oliver has a hole somewhere in his central line in his chest. I found out when it started leaking magnesium out of his line. He was not/is not in pain or sick, but a central line with a hole in it is a big infection risk and can’t get him his medicines appropriately. They asked us to be there at 8:00 am but he is scheduled to get the line out at 3:00. I asked if we could take the line out and see if he does okay, and they agreed that we could do that at least for a couple weeks to see how it goes. If everything continues to go well and he can tolerate his oral magnesium and antifungal, it would mean he would get to have his line out five months early and be able to live more of a normal life after the 100 day period.

Would you be praying today that we get added onto the surgery schedule earlier in the day so I don’t have to keep him from eating or drinking until 3 PM?

Would you also pray that taking out his line would be successful? This is none of our doctors’s first choice and there’s a good chance his line could get put back in, but we are hopeful that he can tolerate everything he needs to without it.
