Oliver has been doing well since we came home last week. We got off to a little bit of a rocky start: he seemed to have forgotten this was his home because he was gone for so long. Things have gotten progressively better day by day and he seems much more comfortable being here and being in his room. He's really enjoying being back home with his siblings and his appetite and energy level have started to pick up over the last few days.
The doctors have been very happy with his progress, although his ANC did fall a bit and he may need a medication on Thursday to help boost it. He did not need any blood products on Monday but we will check again on Thursday (clinic visits will be every Monday and Thursday for awhile).
We are waiting on some genetic testing results this week to tell us what percentage of various blood cell lineages have his DNA versus donor DNA. In theory, it should be 0% Oliver DNA since his bone marrow was wiped out by the preparatory chemo regimen, but in practice they often see that there is a mix, especially at first, and in most cases the donor DNA takes over with time. We are hoping to hear that he has early full donor chimerism in the myeloid cell lineage because that is associated with a lower risk of relapse in AML, so please pray for that!
