Just a quick update from the last couple days: Ollie has done really well and adjusted quickly to life in the hospital. It’s truly amazing how resilient kids are!

His NG tube is very rigid so it was sticking out a lot and kept coming out of his nose. He was very bothered by it so one of our nurses was creative and put a pulse ox sticker across his nose to keep it in place. That’s why it looks like he has a bandaid across his nose!

Oliver’s chemo has been going well, but since it’s overnight we won’t be getting much sleep for the next couple nights. With blood draws, vitals, and overnight chemo we have a lot of interruptions to our sleep. Oliver has been in a good mood and has pretty much been at baseline which is what we were told to expect. He is a little tired and not as hungry as usual, but overall still doing well. Keeping him hooked up is the hardest part right now. He’s got a lot of lines that can get tangled or pulled!

This chemo round is called conditioning and it will be the chemo he gets until the transplant happens (God willing May 15th). Conditioning suppresses his immune system so his body will accept his donors bone marrow and not try to fight it. It will also make space in his marrow so the new marrow can engraft and grow. Oliver will feel his worst next week after the transplant takes place.

Please pray that we would have no complications until transplant: that Oliver wouldn’t get sick, the donor would be able to donate on May 14, and that everything will go smoothly after transplant. The complications often come after the transplant so please pray for no transplant complications and for him to have minimal side effects. Thank you for your support! It keeps us going through these tough days.
