Another Tuesday at UNC. Ollie is in the OR now for his bone marrow biopsy and lumbar puncture with chemo. He has been pretty grouchy and tired the last few days—turns out his hemoglobin was 5.6 (the normal low range for kids is about 9.5). He continues to amaze me.. he still had energy to play and run around. He’s incredibly tough and resilient. All that to say, he will be getting red blood cells after his procedure.

Hoping he will be feeling better this afternoon and that we will wrap up here fairly quickly because we were invited to go to the Staal Family foundation’s box for the Hurricanes game tonight. For more info on the amazing work that they do visit: https://www.staalfoundation.org

As far as transplant goes, we are still on track for an October 5 admission date to the hospital with his donor cell infusion on October 15. He is getting an echocardiogram today as our last test before he is cleared for transplant. Our donor is an international donor and needed to get bloodwork yesterday so we are hopeful that we will hear that their tests have been completed and they are able to donate.

The results of the biopsy today will determine whether or not we will go forward to transplant. We should know by next week whether or not there is any cancer detected or not. Please be praying that Ollie would be in remission and able to go to transplant!
